Illinois passes Lemade Stand Law for Ages Under 16

Nearly 300 new laws will take effect in Illinois at the start of 2023 and here is another example of how ridiculous laws get and what we are paying our state legislators to worry about.

Illinois Senate Bill 119: Let Kids Be Kids, effective Jan. 1, 2022. The measure passed
unanimously and allows a lemonade stand to be operated by a person under
16 without regulation and without having to get a food permit from
local public health officials.

The law stemmed from an instance
where a lemonade stand was shut down because the child had not obtained
the required permit for the stand.

It is not the fact that they passed this law, it is the fact that they had to.

Even children are affected by over regulation of businesses. It has become almost impossible to start and run a small business in America in 2023. The cost of compliance is usually more than anyone can afford.

So without getting investors and starting a huge corporation from day one, is the American dream lost in this decade of over regulation?

When a 10 year old needs to hire an attorney to keep a lemonade stand open, what can the grown ups expect?

Trying to start a home business is being challenged in so many areas with HOA's rallying to keep order and prevent anyone from doing anything out of line to elected city officials pandering to their constituency closing business that are unpopular.

How do small businesses get involved in lucrative markets like Heath Care and Heath Care IT?

Are there loop holes they can use, or have the lobbyists in Washington seal them up to keep out lower cost competition?

All questions we hope to answer in our podcast and blog series coming soon to our YouTube channel.
